Walter Davidson Baggs

Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on December 11, 2010 at the Carbonear General Hospital Walter Davidson Baggs age 88. He leaves to mourn: his loving wife of 65 years Muriel; 5 daughters: Rosalind (Aubrey) Smith, Louise (Sheldon) Mercer, Gail (Avery) Fry, Beverley (Harv) Piercey and Jacqueline (Colin) Parsons; 6 Grandchildren: Jeff (Loretta), Christopher (Sandra), Craig (Michelle), Krista (Leigh), Ryan (Stephanie) and Kylie (Conrad); 5 Great Grandchildren: Tyler, Jessica, Kristen Smith, Joshua and Adam Mercer; A very special nephew Franklyn; Sisters: Marion and Hope and a large circle of extended family and friends. Predeceased By: Parents: James and Louise Baggs; Sister: Olive; Brothers-In-Law: David, Vaugh and Thomas. Throughout his life, Walter was extremely involved in his community, an active member of the Lions, since it\'s inception 46 years ago, he received the Melvin Jones award, he was a member of the Bay Roberts fire dept. for 45 years, 36 years as the fire chief, a member of Masonic Lodge for 50 years, member of Bay Roberts Town Council for 2 terms, served on the Board of Directors of the United Church of BR and a member of the UCBR male choir, member of the Board of Directors Bay Arena association, inducted in the Baccalieu Trail Board of Trade Hall of Fame, Awarded Volunteer of the Year in 1996 and 2002.

Service Information
The Funeral services will take place at Central United Church and Cemetery, Bay Roberts, on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 2 P.M.

The Family will be receiving relatives and friends at SLADE’S FUNERAL HOME ACCESS ROAD, BAY ROBERTS between the hours of 2-5 P.M. and 7 - 9 P.M. on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday 10:30 A.M. - 12 Noon.



No flowers by request, donations may be made in Walter\'s honor to the Max Simms Handicap Camp, Grand Falls.
