Rowena Ivanowskoff

Passed away on Saturday, January 17th, at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL, following a short illness, Rowena Ivanowskoff, (nee Swain) just two weeks shy of her 83rd birthday. Former teacher and supervisor with the CNT in Gander, and beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Predeceased by parents, Stanley and Phene Mae (King) Swain, baby sister, Muriel Viola, first husband Harold Wells, niece Tenna Swain, brothers-in-law, George Howell and Melvin Clarke, and sister-in-law Irma Butryn. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, devoted husband John Ivanowskoff, daughters Linda (Brad) Hynes, Lisa, and Tanya (Kevin) Jervis, cherished grandson, Evan Hynes, step-grandchildren, Kaitlin Jervis and Emma (Hynes) Greenham, sisters Viola Clarke and Eileen Howell, brothers Gordon (Ann) Swain and Leslie (Shirley) Swain, brother-in-law Raymond (Grace) Butryn, sisters-in-law Marie Rideout and Louise Cooper, plus a large circle of family and friends in Newfoundland and Quebec. Thanks to Dr. Tompkins and Dr. Lear, and to the compassionate nursing and support staff on the 4th Floor, Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, NL, and 6th Floor, Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL, with special thanks to Vickie Laing and Rev. Linda Pike who provided added care and support through Rowena's illness.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at SLADE'S FUNERAL HOME, POWELL'S DRIVE, CARBONEAR, NL between the hours of Wednesday: 2 - 5 P.M. & 7 - 9 P.M., Thursday: 10:30 A.M. - 12 Noon, 2 - 5 P.M. & 7 - 9 P.M. & Friday: 10:30 A.M.- 12 noon.

Service Information
The funeral service will take place at Coughlan United Church, Harbour Grace, NL on Friday, January 23, 2015, 2 P.M. With inurnment to take place at a later date.
